Creating Shared Value – Sustainability Leadership
What we're doing today
Creating Shared Value is a commitment to implementing sustainable practices throughout our business. We've taken several steps to reduce our impact through efforts such as designing plants to achieve Leadership in Energy Efficient Design certification and other energy standards, minimizing landfill waste, and tracking stringent sustainability performance indicators.
Reducing Our Footprint
We continue to make progress toward our goal of reducing our carbon intensity. We’ve taken steps throughout our Product Value Chain.
Bottle Responsibility
We’re committed to reducing the footprint of our packaging. We’ve implemented design and material changes and are supporting programs and policies that will help reduce our packaging footprint and improve recycling.
Working Together
Our long-standing partnerships are helping us find better solutions, improve the footprint of our operations, and promote recycling and conservation.
Moving Forward
We're focused on optimizing our use of resources and materials, exploring renewable energy options and working to promote recycling.
Continuously reduce our carbon intensity and aim for 100% renewable energy
We have cut our energy use and carbon intensity by designing a lighter Eco-Shape® bottle and reducing the number of miles driven to distribute our products. Nine of our 28 plants have also received LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, and we continue to look into renewable sources of energy.

Lead our industry in advancing policies to capture and reuse every beverage container produced
There is growing demand for recycled PET plastic resin, which is repurposed to make fleece, carpet, and new plastic bottles. But recycling rates for PET plastic in the United States are alarmingly low. We are committed to reversing this trend and at the same time, reducing the amount of solid waste we generate through in-house recycling programs.
Ensure the materials we use are designed for recyclability
As natural resources become increasingly more constrained, we must find new ways to limit our use of virgin materials, reduce waste, and explore the best opportunities for second-life materials. We’ve focused on creating better bottles made from recycled PET (rPET) while exploring the feasibility of alternative renewable materials.
